Clinica pharmacies have most prescription medications. We also stock some over-the-counter medications and diabetic supplies for patient convenience. However, we do not carry controlled substances such as narcotics (pain medications) or stimulants (for attention deficit disorders). These prescriptions must be filled at an outside pharmacy.

Patients with Medicaid or those on our self-pay plan can utilize our pharmacies.

No. Clinica is a closed-door pharmacy. This means we only fill prescriptions from Clinica providers. If you received a prescription from an outside provider, discuss your options with your Clinica provider. In some instances, your Clinica provider may be able to rewrite the prescription and send it to a Clinica pharmacy. In other instances, you will need to fill the prescription at an outside pharmacy. Your provider and care team will make the determination. If you try to fill a prescription from a non-Clinica provider at a Clinica pharmacy, you will be directed to speak with your care team.

If you use an outside pharmacy:

Call the pharmacy phone number on the label of your prescription when you have 3 days left of your medication. Example – if you pick-up your medication at a Walgreen’s Pharmacy, call the Walgreen’s pharmacy to request your refill.

Know the name, strength, and prescription number of your medication.

If you use a Clinica pharmacy:

Call the Clinica pharmacy refill line (720) 207-0150 when you have 3-5 days left of your medication. Calling ahead prevents delays in refills and long waits at the pharmacy. Know the name, strength, and the number on your prescription.

If you are using the automated system, enter all of the numbers before and after the “RX#”

If you need to speak with the pharmacy staff, follow the phone prompts. If the pharmacy is busy, staff might not be able to answer the phone. Please leave a message and you will receive a call-back.

Most refills will be ready within 72 hours. If a prescription is not picked-up within 14 days, it will be canceled.

These terms can be confusing. Prescriptions for chronic or long-term conditions (diabetes, depression, etc.) can be written for up to 12 months of medicine. Oral contraceptives can also be prescribed for 12 months. Each month when you need more, you are refilling your medication. You can request a refill by calling our pharmacy refill number at (720) 207-0150.

Once that 12-month period is up, you will be out of refills and will need to renew your prescription. You will need to make an appointment with your primary care provider to renew your prescription. Your provider wants to make sure the medication is working, is still necessary and is not causing harmful side effects. The label on your medication will tell you how many refills you have left and when your prescription will expire (see example below). You can also ask the pharmacy staff. When you only have one refill left, make an appointment for a prescription renewal visit. You can do that by calling (303) 650-4460 or going online at www.clinica.org/my-appointments.

You can stop by a Clinica pharmacy for:

Patient consultations. If you have questions about your prescriptions or how to get a refill, you can ask a pharmacy staff member.

Medication take-back. Our Pecos pharmacy can take back medications that you no longer need or that have expired. More information is available from pharmacy staff.

Clinica has three full-service pharmacies with a pharmacist on staff to answer your questions and fill your prescriptions while you wait. Our full-service pharmacies are located at our People’s Clinic in Boulder, our Thornton Clinic in Thornton, and our Pecos clinic in north Denver.
