Clinica is excited to partner with the Boulder Valley School District to be able to offer in-school dental services. Our model will allow your students to receive evidenced-based preventive dental care based on their individual risk for cavities.

Meet Your Providers

Amanda Roberts, RDH, CDA
Graduated from Broward College, 2015
Hi, I’m Amanda, a registered dental hygienist with over 10 years of experience working in a variety of school-based dental programs. Throughout my career, I’ve had the opportunity to provide preventive dental care and oral health education to children in schools across different communities. I love being able to connect with kids in a familiar, non-dental setting where they feel comfortable and engaged. One of the most rewarding parts of my job is teaching children how to care for their teeth and helping them build healthy habits that will support a lifetime of healthy smiles.

Hi, I’m Dr. Laura. After graduating dental school, I served in the US Navy as a General Dentist treating Marine Corps recruits, and later sailors on board USS Germantown. I thoroughly enjoyed working with this population of young adults but missed working with children. After leaving the Navy, I joined a private practice where I treated people of all ages. When I came to Clinica, I joined our School Based Oral Health program to increase access to quality dental care and prevention.
Growing up, my neighbors were dentists and I always loved going for dental appointments because it felt very welcoming and family oriented. We eventually needed to switch dental offices due to our insurance, and I realized that not all dental providers are family oriented. The provider can really make an impact on the patient and the experience. So I decided I wanted to pursue dentistry because I wanted to provide that welcoming and family friendly environment to all my patients no matter where I practice.
I enjoy working with kids because it doesn’t feel like work at all! Every interaction provides an opportunity to make an impact on a young person’s life, and to teach them and their parents good oral hygiene practices. Every appointment serves to build a lasting trustworthy relationship with the child and family, and to teach them that the dental office is a safe environment. If treatment is indicated, we then have a confident child and family supporting them, further building positive dental and health experiences to last their life.

My passion has always been to work with children, as well as serving my community. Growing up in a small mountain community, access to dental services was not always available. Having to travel far for dental care was something that not everyone had the luxury of doing. As I keep learning about oral health, it is important to keep educating our community for their overall wellbeing. Especially when it comes to preventative care, knowledge is power!
I have always found joy working and being around children. They are so funny and smart. Every child has a unique personality which I love to see and learn about. They always keep me on my toes! It brings me joy to know that we are making a positive impact on the lives of our BVSD students and families when it comes to their oral health.
Parent & Caregiver FAQ
What is the cost for this program?
All students can receive this dental care regardless of dental insurance, and we are not collecting any fees from students who are screened or receive our limited scope preventive care in the school-based setting. Clinica will attempt to bill the student’s insurance for the care provided but any outstanding balance will not be passed on to the families.
Do you accept insurance?
All students can receive this dental care regardless of dental insurance. For more information, please contact us at sboh@clinica.org.
How do I enroll my student?
You can enroll your student(s) by completing the consent form, found on this page. Please make sure to complete a consent form for each student you wish to enroll.
How much class time will my student miss?
Around 20 – 40 minutes, depending on the treatment completed.
What if my student needs dental services that are not offered by the dental team at the school?
After your student’s screening, you will receive additional information regarding your students treatment needs and follow up referral information if indicated.
Why sign up up for a school based dental program?
Students participating in the program have the opportunity to receive preventive dental services (screenings, cleanings and sealants) without having to miss multiple hours of class time to visit the dentist’s office.
Can my child still be seen if they have a dental home somewhere else?
Yes, all students at participating schools are eligible to receive care from our school-based dental program.
Teacher FAQ
Will I have advanced notice of when students will be missing from class?
Yes. Based on the consents received for the program, our team will create a schedule so that teachers have advance notice of when students might be pulled from class. We may have to make adjustments to the schedule based on student absences, but we will try to notify teachers in the morning if the schedule has changed.
How long will the appointments take?
Around 20 – 40 minutes, depending on the treatment completed.
How will students get to their appointments?
One of our hygienists will come to the classroom prior to their appointment and walk the student to and from their appointment.
What classes are students likely to miss?
There are a number of variables we must include when determining the schedule, so we cannot say for sure what classes a student may be pulled from. However, we will only pull students from specials, not from core subject classes.
Can students be seen by the dental team if they are not on the schedule?
No. Only students with completed consent forms – and who are already on the schedule – can be seen by our dental team. If a student would like to enroll, they can pick up an enrollment card from the dental team and bring it home to their parent or guardian to complete the form online.
Will the students be in any pain after the visit?
No. We will not be preforming any treatments that will cause pain to the students.
Can students eat and drink normally after services?
No. Students should not eat anything hard or crunchy or drink hot liquids immediately after services. Please discourage eating crunchy foods or drinking hot liquids for 2 hours after services.
